Developing the right eating habits is essential for supporting your child's faster growth. Ensuring he/she consumes nutrient-dense and balanced meals helps promote healthy growth and development. By giving three balanced meals, exercise and proper sleep, you can help your child reach their full growth potential.
Your child may not be getting the right kind and amount of nutrients from a variety of foods to help him grow. Children are advised to eat at least 5 out of the 7 food groups.
A balanced diet not only supports physical growth but also enhances overall health. Incorporating a variety of foods from each group helps ensure your child receives the necessary vitamins and minerals they need. Encouraging the right eating habits early on sets the foundation to support good growth.
The FNRI has released dietary guidelines, such as Pinggang Pinoy, to help parents ensure their children receive the recommended amount of nutrients. These are the "Go, Grow, and Glow" food groups, which include grains, proteins, fruits, vegetables, and dairy. The Pinggang Pinoy is composed of a healthy food plate appropriate for a child's age which emphasizes the importance of proper diet for overall health and development of children. Pinggang Pinoy helps establish right eating habits to support good nutrition and good growth in children.
Make milk a regular part of your child’s diet. A single glass of milk provides calcium, protein, potassium, vitamins, iodine and phosphorus which are all essential components in building mass and growth.
